FAQ

Straight answers before you retain counsel.

Fees, communication, and whether this office is the right fit — answered before you pick up the phone.

I need a quote. Whom do I contact?

Call 818-793-0363, email Zaven@plgla.com, or use the consultation form. Fees depend on the type of matter, the court’s schedule, and how contested the case is. Family law and business matters are typically quoted after a short intake. Many personal injury cases are handled on a contingency fee, meaning the attorney’s fee comes from a recovery. No fee quote given on this website is a guarantee until it is in a signed retainer.

What is collaborative law?

Collaborative law is a structured way to resolve a family law case without a contested trial. Each spouse has a lawyer. Everyone agrees in writing to negotiate in good faith and to stay out of court while that process is underway. It is not the right fit for every case — especially where there is domestic violence, hidden assets, or a party who will not disclose information. If it is appropriate, we will say so. If the case needs litigation, we prepare for that instead.

What payment methods do you accept?

The office accepts common forms of payment discussed at the consultation, including credit card in many matters. Personal injury work is often contingency-based. Family law, business, real estate, and criminal defense are generally billed by retainer and hourly or by a flat fee for a defined scope, depending on the case. Ask during the evaluation so there are no surprises.

Are you the right law firm for me?

We are a good fit if you want an attorney who will take the file personally, explain the next step, and appear in court prepared. The practice is focused on family law, personal injury, real estate, business, DUI defense, bankruptcy, estate planning, and selected aviation matters in California. If your case is outside that work, we will tell you rather than stretch the representation.

How will I be kept informed about my case?

You should hear from the office when something happens — a filing, a hearing date, an offer, or a problem. Clients regularly cite that as the difference. You will have the office phone and email. We expect you to return calls and send documents when we ask; a case cannot be prepared in the dark.

How can I contact your office?

Pehlevanian Law Group, APC is at 15760 Ventura Blvd, Suite 806, Encino, CA 91436. Phone: 818-793-0363. Email: Zaven@plgla.com. Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Sunday closed. Consultations are available in English and Armenian.

Do I really need an attorney?

Not every dispute needs counsel. Many do. California family law, injury claims against insurers, foreclosure timelines, and DUI cases all have deadlines that are easy to miss and consequences that are hard to undo. If you can resolve a simple issue yourself, we will say so. If you are facing a Request for Order, a complaint, a DMV notice, or a lender accelerating a loan, you should not wait to get advice.

How long does a California divorce take?

California requires a waiting period of six months from service of the petition before a judgment of dissolution can be entered. That is a minimum, not a promise. Contested custody, support, and property issues, plus the court’s calendar, often make the case longer. Legal separation and dissolution are different procedures; we will explain which applies to your facts.

What is a DVRO?

A domestic violence restraining order is a court order designed to protect a person from abuse in a family or dating relationship. In California it can restrain contact, prohibit firearms, order the restrained person out of a shared home, and provide temporary child custody pending a later hearing. Violations can be enforced by law enforcement. These cases move quickly. Call the office as soon as you can.

Do you handle cases outside Encino?

Yes. The office is in Encino. The practice is California. We regularly work with clients throughout Los Angeles County, and we take matters elsewhere in the state when we can appear and do the work properly.
